580              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 27,

Salmon, Naill, Bayless, Straughn, Goldsborough, Krafft,
Booze, Seth, Berry, Crowley, McAllister, Smith, Turner,
of Baltimore city, Coudy, Brining, Freaner, Griffith, Hard-
ing, Barnard, Beall, McCleary, Roop and Mills.

The proceedings of Saturday were read.

The Speaker laid before the House the following communi-
cation:

To the Honorable,

Speaker of the House of Delegates,

Dear Sir: You are respectfully invited to attend a public
examination of the students of St. John's College, com-
mencing on Monday, 27th inst., and continuing for several
successive days. Hours of examination from 9 A. M. to 3
P. M.

Respectfully,

C. K. NELSON,

Principal.
St. John's College, February 25th, 1860.

Will you be kind enough to have the above invitation an-
nounced to the House of Delegates.

On motion of Mr. Chaplain,
The invitation was accepted.

Mr. Miller presented a petition from R. F. May, and other
citizens of Cecil county, against laws in relation to the colored
population in this State;

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Salmon presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Frederick county, in relation to the colored population of the
State;                                                                       

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Beall presented a petition from John Miller and others,
against the incorporation of the town of Grantsville, in Al-
legany county;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

Mr. Wilson, of Cecil, presented a petition from R. Semans
