536              JOURNAL OP PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 24,

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Krafft presented a memorial from William Woodward,
and three hundred and twenty-three citizens of Baltimore,
relating to the free colored population of the State;

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Coudy presented a petition of four hundred and fourteen
gas consumers of the city of Baltimore, asking the incorpora-
tion of the People's Gas Light company;

Mr. Rasin presented a petition from five hundred citizens
of Baltimore on the same subject;

Mr. Eakle presented petitions from four hundred and fifty-
two and three hundred and fifty-six citizens of Baltimore, on
the same subject;

Mr. Routzahn presented a petition from five hundred and
twenty-five citizens of Baltimore, on the same subject;

Which were severally referred to the committee on Corpo-
rations.                                                                   

Mr. Renshaw presented a petition from Adam B. Kyle and
others, in relation to the free colored population;

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Wilson, of Cecil, presented a petition from Amos E.
Pierson, and one hundred and eighty other citizens of Cecil
county, asking a repeal of the laws relating to wild fowl in
Cecil county;

Referred to the Cecil county delegation.

Mr. McAllister presented a petition from the Turner Rifle-
men of Baltimore, asking pay for services rendered at Harper's
Ferry;

Referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Burgess presented a memorial from Alfred W. Garde-
ner and other citizens of Charles county, praying for relief
therein stated;

Referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Harding presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Washington city and county, District of Columbia, in relation
to a public road leading into Washington city;

Which was referred to a special committee, consisting of
Messrs. Harding, Griffith and Compton.

Mr. Renshaw presented a petition from the heirs of Col.

Edward Cockey, for relief;

Referred to the committee on Pensions.
