52              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 12,

THURSDAY, January 12th, 1860.

The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Davenport.                           

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Kilbourn, Sp'r., Durant, Morgan, Medders, Welch,
Mackubin, Briscoe, Parian, Compton, Burgess, Ford, Worth-
ington, Denison, of Baltimore county, Hunter, Renshaw,
Jones, of Talbot, Chaplain, Dennis, of Somerset, Long, Stan-
ford, Lawson, Linthicum, Keene, Holland, Wilson, of Cecil,
Maxwell, Miller, Bryan, Wootton, Jones, of Prince Georges,
Legg, Starkey, Jacobs, Landing, Dennis, of Worcester, Kess-
ler, Claggett, Routzahn, Johnson, Salmon, Wilson, of Har-
ford, Bayless, McCoy, Straughn, Goldsborough, Krafft,
Booze, Seth, Berry, Crowley, McAllister, Smith, Turner, of
Baltimore city, Denison, of Baltimore city, Coudy, Eakle,
Brining, Freaner, Stake, Griffith, Harding, McCleary, Roop,
Gorsuch, Mills, Turner, of Howard, and Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Ford presented a petition of Adolphus Schaefer and
others, corporators of the Green Spring Avenue Company,
asking an amendment to their charter;

Which was referred to the Baltimore county delegation.

Also, the petition of Josiah Pennington and others, asking
a charter for the Brooklyn Company of Anne Arundel county;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

Mr. Hunter presented the petition of B. F. Anderson, of
Baltimore county, asking a certain sum of money to be re-
funded, erroneously paid into the State Treasury of Mary-
land;

Referred to the committee on Claims.

Mr. Freaner presented a memorial in relation to elections.
in Baltimore;
Referred to the committee on Elections.

The- Speaker laid before the House the annual report of
the Charlotte Hall Academy;

Referred to the committee on Education.
