On motion of Mr. Ford,

The House adjourned until to-morrow morning, at ten
o'clock.

TUESDAY, February 21, 1860.

The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Graff.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Rasin, Medders,
Welch, Mackubin, Briscoe, Parran, Compton, Burgess, Ford,
Worthington, Denison, of Baltimore county, Quintan, Jones,
of Talbot, Chaplain, Dennis, of Somerset, Long, Stanford,
Lawson, Linthicum, Keene, Holland, Wilson, of Cecil, Max-
well, Miller, Bryan, Jones, of Prince George's, Legg, Star-
key, Landing, Dennis, of Worcester, Kessler, Johnson, Sal-
mon, Naill, Wilson, of Harford, Bay less, McCoy, Straughn,
Goldsborough, Krafft, Booze, Berry, Crowley, McAllister,
Smith, Turner, of Baltimore city, Denison, of Baltimore city,
Eakle, Brining, Freaner, Stake, Griffith, Harding, Gordon,
Barnard, Beall, McCleary, Gorsuch, Turner, of Howard, and
Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Maxwell presented a petition from John McClenahan,
and two hundred other citizens of Port Deposit and vicinity,
against the altering or amending the 41st article of the code
of general public laws;

Referred to the Cecil county delegation.

Mr. Bryan presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Prince George's county, asking additional compensation as
witnesses, when summoned to Howard county;

Referred to the committee on Claims.
