a bill to compensate John B. Rowan, of Cecil county, for
legal services in the case of Cantwell vs. Owens.

On motion of Mr. Dennis, of Worcester,

Leave was granted the Worcester county delegation to
introduce a bill entitled, an act to prohibit the shooting of
foxes in Worcester county.

On motion of Mr. Maxwell,

Leave was granted the committee on Claims to introduce a
bill to compensate the Shield's Guards, for services rendered
at Harper's Ferry during the late John Brown raid.

On motion of Mr. Beall,

Leave was granted the Allegany county delegation to in-
troduce a bill entitled, an act to repeal the 200th section of
article first of the public local laws, relating to the destruction
of wild animals in Allegany county, and substituting there-
for a new section.

Also, leave was granted the same delegation to introduce a
bill entitled, an act to exempt the property of the Union
Hall Association of Westernport, in Allegany county, from
taxation.

Mr. Griffith, from a select committee, reported favorably
on Senate bill entitled, an act to authorise the sale of certain
lands devised by the last will and testament of Elizabeth
Davis, late of Montgomery county, to Catharine W. Bowie
and her children;

Mr. Rasin, from a select committee, reported favorably on
Senate bill entitled, an act to renumber the primary school
districts, in Kent county.

On motion of Mr. Ford,

The rules were suspended, and the House took up for con-
sideration the bill entitled, a supplement to an act entitled,
an act to authorise the consolidation of the Baltimore and
Susquehanna Railroad company with the York and Maryland
Line Railroad company, the York and Cumberland Railroad
company and the Susquehanna Railroad company, by the
name of the Northern Central Railway company, passed at
January session, 1854, chapter 25;

Said bill being upon its second reading,

Mr. Denison, of Baltimore county, proposed the following
amendment:
