more city, Denison, of Baltimore city, Coudy, Eakle, Brin-
ing, Freaner, Stake, Griffith, Harding, Gordon, Barnard,
Beall, McCleary, Roop, Gorsuch, Mills, Turner, of Howard,
and Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

The Speaker laid before the House the following bills
delivered by the Secretary of the Senate:

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the State Treasurer,
upon the warrant of the Comptroller, to pay to Martha A.
Lee, administratix of Judge Z. Collins Lee, the salary of said
judge for the quarter ending the first day of January, 1860;

Endorsed; "passed by yeas and nays."

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Claims.

Also, returned the bill entitled, an act to authorise and
empower the commissioners of Dorchester county to levy a
sum of money for the benefit of Samuel E. Collins, a citizen
of said county;

Endorsed: "passed by yeas and nays;"

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Dor-
chester county delegation.

The Speaker appointed George W. Howard, Assistant Fol-
der to the House, under the order passed yesterday.

Mr. Freaner presented a petition from the President and
Managers of the Boonsboro' Turnpike Road company, pray-
ing for a law to authorise them to remove their toll gate to a
point within one mile from the town of Sharpsburg;

Referred to the Washington county delegation.

Also, a petition from sundry citizens of Washington
county, in reference to the tolls charged on the Baltimore
and Ohio Railroad, at their bridge at Harper's Ferry;

Referred to the select committee on that subject.

Mr. Claggett presented a petition from sundry citizens of
Frederick and Carroll counties, praying the passage of a law
to prevent the people known as gipsies from encamping in
this State;

Referred to the committee on Colored Population.

Mr. Holland presented a petition from S. S. Dawson and
sundry citizens of Dorchester county, praying the passage
