On motion of Mr. Morgan,

Leave was granted the committee on Agriculture, to intro-
duce a bill entitled, an act in favor of the Maryland State
Agricultural Society.

On motion of Mr. Holland,                           

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to re-
port a bill providing further for the trial of persons for crimes
and misdemeanors committed on the Chesapeake Bay.

On motion of Mr. Durant,

Leave was granted the committee on Ways and Means, to
introduce a bill to repeal the acts imposing a tax on collateral
inheritances, executors and administrators commissions.

Mr. Harding offered the following order:

Ordered, That Elihu S. Riley, of the city of Annapolis, be
and he is hereby elected Printer to this House, and that the
committee on Printing contract with him for the execution of
the printing.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Mackubin presented a petition from I. Nevitt Steele,
for payment of professional services.

Referred to the committee on Claims.
On motion of Mr. Burgess,

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary, to re-
port a bill to carry into effect the 39th section of the 4th arti-
cle of the Constitution, exempting from execution the proper-
ty of the debtor to a reasonable amount.

Mr. Jacobs offered the following :

Ordered, That the committee on Ways and Means, be in-
structed to enquire into the expediency of removing the re-
maining ten cents direct tax.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Landing offered the following :

Ordered, That an assistant folder be appointed by the
House.
