ties to preserve the peace.
Mr. Johnson, from the committee on Inspections, made a
favorable report on the bill entitled, an act to repeal the 477th,
479th, 581st, 514th, 526th, 529th and 532d sections of the
4th article of the code of public local laws, relating to the
inspection of tobacco in the city of Baltimore;

money to Wm. A. Spencer, clerk of the Court of Appeals of

Which were severally read the first time.
Also, asked to be discharged from the further consideration
of the bill entitled, an act for the relief of Richard France, of
Baltimore city, and that said bill be referred to the committee
on the Judiciary;
Which was assented to.
Also, on the bill entitled, an act for the relief of the sure-
ties on the bonds of Richard J. Edelin, deceased, former col-
lector of the 3d collection district of Prince George's county.
On motion of Mr. Beall,
The rules were suspended, and the House took up for con-
sideration the bill entitled, an act to compensate Milton Whit-
ney for the trial of the cases of Wm. G. Ford and Thos. M.
Watkins in the Court of Appeals, as counsel on the part of
the State, by appointment of the Governor;
Said bill being on its second reading,
