Mr. Dennis, of Somerset, proposed the following message:

By the House of Delegates,

February 10, 1860.
To His Excellency the Governor of Maryland:

Whereas, it is represented to this House of Delegates that a
communication from the Executive of South Carolina has
been received by your Excellency; Therefore,

Resolved by the House of Delegates, That the Governor
be requested, if not in his judgment incompatible with the pub-
lic interests, to submit to this House a copy of said commu-
nication in relation to resolutions of said State.

Milton Y. Kidd,

Chief Clerk.
Which was adopted.

The question then recurring on the resolutions of the Legis-
lature of South Carolina,

Mr. Compton proposed the following:

By the House of Delegates,

February 10, 1860.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose, with the concurrence of your honorable body,
that the resolutions of the Legislature of South Carolina,
with the accompanying documents, be referred to a joint spe-
cial committee of three of this House and two of the Senate,
to consider the same and prepare a reply, to be submitted to
both Houses. We have appointed Messrs. Compton, Long
and Goldsborough, on the part of this House.

By order,

Milton Y. Kidd,

Chief Clerk.
Mr. Goldsborough offered the following substitute:

Ordered, That the South Carolina resolutions and all other
papers on that subject be made the order of the day for Mon-
day next, at 12 o'clock, M., and at the same time the House
resolves itself into a committee of the whole;

Which was not concurred in.

The question then recurred on the message of Mr. Compton;
Which was concurred in.
