All further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.

The question then recurring upon the unfinished business
of yesterday, being the motion of Mr. Maxwell to reconsider
the vote by which the bill entitled, an act to compensate the
members of the joint committee appointed by the late Legis-
lature to examine the report of the commissioners to revise
and codify the laws;

Mr. Maxwell renewed his motion to reconsider the vote;
Which was sustained, and
The vote was reconsidered.

The question then recurring upon the third reading of the
bill;

Mr. Dennis, of Somerset, moved to reconsider the said bill
to its second reading;

Which was sustained, and the said bill put upon its second

reading.

Mr. Kessler proposed the following amendment:

Strike out "one thousand," in sixth line, section first, and
insert "five hundred and one;"'
