ported unfavorably on the bill entitled, an act to regu-
late and provide for the payments of the fees of the criers
of the Superior court of Baltimore city, the crier of the
court of Common Pleas for Baltimore city, and the crier of
Criminal court of the city of Baltimore;

Also, on the bill entitled, an act enlarging the powers of
justices of the peace;

Also, on the bill entitled, an act for the relief of fami-
lies;

Also, on the bill entitled, an act to prevent abuses by mu-
nicipal corporations in this State.

Mr. Claggett, from a select committee, reported the bill en-
titled, an act to legalise the proceedings of John B. Gilbert,
of Frederick county, while acting as justice of the peace un-
der the appointment of the Governor;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Johnson, from a select committee, reported the bill en-
titled, a supplement to the first section of an act entitled, an
act to incorporate the Junior Fire company, of Frederick city,
in Frederick county, passed March, 1837, chapter 303;

Also, the bill entitled, an act to regulate the use of fire-
arms, &c, in this State;

Also, the bill entitled, an act to prevent the judges of the
several courts of this State from acting as executors or ad-
ministrators;

Which were severally read the first time.

The bill entitled, an act to authorise the Comptroller of the
Treasury to adjust and settle the accounts of the inspectors
of grain in the city of Baltimore;

Being upon its second reading;

Mr. Worthington moved to strike out the enacting clause;

Pending the discussion thereon,

Mr. Worthington moved the previous question;

The question then being,

"Shall the main question be now put?"

It was sustained.

The question then recurring on the motion to strike out the
enacting clause of said bill;
