of public local laws, by adding thereto a new section, in re-
lation to building certain school houses in District No. 3.. in
Washington county.

On motion of Mr. Jones, of Prince George's,

Leave was granted the committee on Agriculture to intro-
duce a bill entitled, an act to amend article 17 of the code of
public general laws, by adopting the following sections, and
repealing sections 1 and 2 of the aforesaid article, relating to
the Agricultural Chemist.

Mr. Long offered the following:

Ordered, That the notaries public of the city of Baltimore,
furnish to this House forthwith, a report of their monthly
receipts from all sources, from May 3, 1858, to May 1, 1859.
and from that period to September 30, 1859, with an accurate
accounts of all their expenses for the same periods;

Which was adopted.

Also, the following:

Ordered, that in consequence of the sickness of Mr. Mur-
phy, and the accumulation of business before the committee
on Ways and Means, the Speaker be directed to appoint an
efficient clerk;

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Harding,

Leave was granted the Montgomery county delegation to
introduce a bill to extend the time of Samuel T. Stonestreet,
trustee of Silas Browning, late sheriff of Montgomery county,
longer time for completing his collections.

Mr. Goldsborough, from the committee on Corporations,
reported favorably on the bill entitled, an act to incorporate
the Brooklyn company;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Jacobs offered the following message:

By the Home of Delegates,

February 8, 1860.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

We propose with the concurrence of your honorably body,
to appoint a joint committee upon the memorial regarding
searching vessels trading from Chincoteague inlet, and Poco-
moke river, through the waters of Virginia.

We have appointed Messrs. Jacobs and Dennis, of Somer-
