326              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS         [Feb. 8,

Baltimore city, Denison, of Baltimore city, Brining, Frea-
ner, Griffith, Harding, Gordon, Barnard, Beall, McCleary,
Roop, Gorsuch and Turner, of Howard.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Communications were received from the. following, in. re-
sponse to an order of the House, calling for information in
regard to the number of protests made by each during the
year ending the 30th September, 1850:

Bank of Commerce;

Isaac S. Nicholson;

Which were read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.

The Speaker laid before this House the following bills, re-
ceived from the Senate:

A bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act entitled, an
act to incorporate the Mutual Fire Insurance company, in
Baltimore county, passed at December session, 1849, chapter
213;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Corporations.

A bill entitled, an act to renew and continue in force an
act entitled, an act to incorporate the Maryland and Virginia
Steam Packet company, passed December session, 1847, chap-
ter 112;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the commit-
tee on Corporations.

A bill entitled, an act to repeal the 193d section, chapter
14, of the public local laws of Kent county;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Kent
county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act to repeal section 191, chapter 14, of
the code of public local laws of Kent county;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Kent
county delegation.

A bill entitled, an act to amend sections 114, 115, 116,
121, 126, 127 and 170, relating to schools in Queen Anne's
county, of article 17 of the code of public local laws;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Queen
Anne's county delegation.                                                 

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Egenton Orphan
Asylum of Baltimore:
