Upon the call of the roll, it appeared that fifty-five mem-
bers had voted.

The ballot box was then sealed and delivered by the Speaker
into the hands of Messrs. Welch and Dennis, of Somerset,
tellers on the part of the House to join the gentlemen who had
been appointed on the part of the Senate, and the said tellers
then proceeded to the Senate chamber for the purpose of
counting the ballots.

After an absence of some time, the tellers on the part of
the House returned, and reported that, with the tellers on the
part of the Senate, they had counted the ballots cast for
the Treasurer, and that there were seventy-four ballots cast
in all; of which,

Sprigg Harwood received fifty votes, and                 

Dr. Dennis Claude had received twenty-four votes;

Whereupon, the Speaker declared Sprigg Harwood, duly
elected State Treasurer for the ensuing term.

The House then proceeded to the election of State Libra-
rian.

Upon the call of the roll, it appeared that fifty-three mem"
bers had voted.

Speaker into the hands of Messrs. Welch and Dennis, of
Somerset, tellers on the part of the House, to join the gentle-
men who had been appointed on the part of the Senate, and

part of the Senate, they had counted the ballots cast for Libra-
rian, and that there were seventy-two ballots cast in all; of
which,

Edwin M. Shipley had received forty-nine votes;
Lewellyn Boyle had received eighteen votes;

F. C. Hyde had received four votes, and Glanville, one
vote.

Whereupon, the Speaker declared Edwin M. Shipley, duly
elected State Librarian for the ensuing term.

Mr. Long moved a call of the House, when it was found
that the following members were absent:

Messrs. Mackubin, Briscoe, Parran, Burgess, Denison, of
