Which were read, and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Miller presented a petition from Sutton Scarborough
and other citizens of Cecil county, against a division of the
annual appropriation to West Nottingham Academy, in said
county;

Referred to the Cecil county delegation.

The Speaker laid before the House eighteen petitions from
citizens of Baltimore city, praying that the 22d of February
be made an annual holiday;

Referred to the committee on Ways and Means.
On motion of Mr. Maxwell,

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to intro-
duce a bill, to authorise Theophilus Jones, a free person of
color, to convey certain real estate therein mentioned.

On motion of Mr. Maxwell,

Leave was granted the committee on the Judiciary to in-
troduce a bill to authorise John C. Clark, Jr., the committee
or trustee of Thomas Sloan, a lunatic, to fulfil a contract on
the part of said lunatic, for the sale of land in this State, or
if necessary, to enforce the execution thereof by suit.

On motion of Mr. Miller,

Leave was granted the Cecil county delegation to introduce
a bill to amend the 66th section of the public local laws for
Cecil county, relating to election of commissioners in the
town of Elkton, in said county.

Mr. Turner, of Howard, offered the following:

Ordered, That two thousand copies of the evidence taken
in Baltimore city, by E. Wyatt Blanchard and others, in the
case of the Baltimore city contested election, be printed and
distributed to the members of this House.
