son, of Harford, Bayless, McCoy, Straughn, Krafft, Booze,
Berry, McAllister, Smith, Turner, of Baltimore city, Coudy,
Brining, Griffith, Harding, Gordon, Beall, McCleary, Roop,
Gorsuch and Turner, of Howard.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Communications were received from the following, in re-
sponse to an order of the House, calling for information in
regard to the number of protests made by each during the
year ending 30th September, 1859:

Chesapeake Bank;
Nicholson & Brother;
Farmers' and Merchants' Bank;
Marine Bank;

Which were read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Kessler presented a petition from Ezra Williams and
twenty-six others, from Frederick county, praying that a law
be passed requiring that all summonses issued by magistrates
be made returnable in the district in which the defendant
lives;                       

Referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Miller presented a petition from James Marrett, and
other citizens of Cecil county, in favor of changing the boun-
dary of Election District No 3 in said county;

Referred to the Cecil county delegation.

Mr. Kessler presented a petition from John Dare, and thirty
others, praying the passage of a law to prevent fishing in Ca-
toctin creek and its tributaries, under certain circumstances;

Referred to the Frederick county delegation.

Also, a petition from George Souder and others, praying
that the title to certain church property, situated in Jeffer-
son, Frederick county, be made valid;

Referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. McCleary presented a petition asking for the repeal of
the law requiring the inspection of flour in the city of Cum-
berland;

Referred to the Allegany county delegation.

Mr. Beall presented a protest from L. M. Gorsuch, against
