The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage:

By the Senate,

February 6th, 1860.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We have received your message in relation to the elec-
tion of State Treasurer, State Librarian and Keeper of the
Chancery Records, on Tuesday next, the 7th of February, at
one o'clock, P. M., and concur therein.

On the part of the Senate we have nominated Sprigg Har-
wood for the office of Treasurer, Edwin M. Shipley for State
Librarian, and George W. Waters as Keeper of the Chancery
Records.

We have appointed Messrs. Goldsborough, of Talbot, and
Whitaker tellers on the part of the Senate, to unite with the
gentlemen named on the part of your honorable body, to
count the ballots to be cast in such election, and report the
same.

                                    Secretary.

Also, the bill entitled, an act to compensate Nicholas
Brewer, of John, for legal services rendered the State in the
Court of Appeals, under the appointment of the Governor;

Also, the bill entitled, an act to refund to the legatees of
Thomas L. Offutt, the money paid by Turner Wootten, ad-
ministrator of said Thomas L. Offutt, on the forfeited recog-
nizance of Thomas L. Offutt;

Also, the bill entitled, an act appropriating a sum of money
for the use of James G. Hening, clerk of the Circuit court
for Montgomery county;

Which were severally read, and referred to the committee
on Claims.

The bill entitled, an act supplementary to an act incor-
porating the American Fire Insurance company;
