Committee on Contingent Fund.—Messrs. Burgess, Hunter,
Johnson, Standford, Morgan, Miller and Medders.

Committee on Roads and Highways.—Messrs. Wilson, of
Cecil, Barnard, Turner, of Howard, McCoy, Eakle, Starkey
and Bayless.

David W. McCleary, Esq., of Allegany county, appeared,
qualified and took his seat.

John S. Mills, of Calvert county, Heading Clerk elect,
Thaddeus Kosciusko Preuss, of St. Mary's county, Commit-
tee Clerk elect, and Thomas E. Schleigh, of Washington
bounty, Doorkeeper elect, appeared and were qualified.

Mr. Denison, of Baltimore city, offered the following
order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that if Messrs.
Turner, of Baltimore city, McAllister, Berry, McCleary,
Stake, Denison, of Baltimore city, Booze and Beth, had been
present when the vote was taken on the resolutions of Mr.
Freaner, and the substitute offered by Mr. Dennis, of Somer-
set, they would have voted in the affirmative on the propo-
sitions.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Gordon presented the memorial of certain citizens of

Baltimore, praying the removal of Judge Stump, from the
bench of the Criminal Court.

Which was received, and referred to a special committee
of five, consisting of Gordon, Freaner, Briscoe, Smith and
Goldsborough.

Mr. Seth offered the following order :

Ordered, that so much of the Governor's message, as re-
lates to oysters and the oyster trade, he referred to a select
committee.

Which was adopted.

Messrs. Seth, Morgan, Jones, of Talbot, Jacobs, Mackubin,
were appointed said committee.

Mr. Compton offered the following order :

Ordered, that the committee on the Judiciary, he instruct-
ed to inquire into the expediency of reporting a hill, making
the, testimony of slaves, free negroes and mulattoes, admis-
sible in evidence against white men, in all prosecutions for
