On motion of Mr. Brown,             

The House adjourned until to-morrow morning at eleven
o'clock.

WEDNESDAY, February 1st, 1860.

The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Father Duffy.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Basin, Medders, Welch, Mac-
kubin, Briscoe, Parran, Compton, Burgess, Ford, Worthing
ton, Quinlan, Renshaw, Jones, of Talbot, Chaplain, Dennis,
of Somerset, Stanford, Lawson, Linthicum, Keene, Holland,
Maxwell, Miller, Bryan, Jones, of Prince George's, Legg,
Starkey, Dennis, of Worcester, Kessler, Claggett, John-
son, Salmon, Naill, Wilson, of Harford, Bayless, McCoy,
Straughn, Goldsborough, Krafft, Booze, Seth, Berry, Mc-
Allister, Smith, Denison, of Baltimore city, Coudy, Eakle,
Brining, Freaner, Stake, Griffith, Harding, Gordon, Barnard,
Beall, McCleary, Roop, Mills, Turner, of Howard, and
Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.                         

Mr. Freaner presented a memorial asking the incorporation
of a Savings' Institution at Hagerstown ;                             

Referred to the committee on Corporations, with leave to
report by bill or otherwise.

Mr. Miller presented a petition of William McCullough, and
other citizens of Cecil county, against a division of the annual
donation to the West Nottingham Academy in said county ;

Referred to the Cecil county delegation.                           

Mr. Legg presented a petition of William J. Emory, of
Queen Anne's county, asking payment of a certain sum of
money due his father, for services during the war of the Revo-
lution ;

Referred to the committee on Pensions.
