MONDAY, January 9th, 1860.

The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Davenport.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Morgan, Rasin, Med-
ders, Mackubin, Briscoe, Parran, Compton, Burgess, Ford,
Denison, of Baltimore county, Jones, of Talbot, Chaplain,
Dennis, of Somerset, Long, Stanford, Lawson, Linthicum,
Keene, Holland, Maxwell, Miller, Bryan, Jones, of Prince
George's, Legg, Starkey, Jacobs, Dennis, of Worcester,
Kessler, Claggett, Johnson, Salmon, Naill, McCoy, Straughn,
Goldsborough, Krafft, Booze, Seth, Berry, McAllister,
Smith, Turner, of Baltimore city, Denison, of Baltimore
city, Coudy, Eakle, Brining, Freaner, Stake, Griffith, Gor-
don, Barnard, Beall, McCleary, Roop, Gorsuch, Mills, Tur-
ner, of Howard, and Brown.

The proceedings of Friday were read.

Mr. Dennis, of Worcester, offered the following order :

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that Mr. Land-
ing is detained from his seat by indisposition.

Which was adopted.

Mr. Gordon asked leave of absence for Mr. Beall, on
account of sickness in his family.

Which was granted.

The Speaker announced the following Standing Commit-
tees:

Committee on Elections.—Messrs. Freaner, Morgan, Wilson,
of Harford, Harding, Goldsborough, Medders and Gordon.

Committee on Ways and Means—Messrs. Long, Ford, Den-
nis, of Somerset, Freaner, Naill, Berry, Burgess, Barnard,
and Denison, of Baltimore county.

Committee on Claims.—Messrs. Mackubin, Briscoe, Max-
well, Harding, Straughn, McCoy and Seth.

Committee on Judiciary—Messrs. Gordon, Freaner, Bris-
coe, Miller, Chaplain, Long, Krafft, Renshaw and Dennis,
of Somerset.
