186               JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 26,

Mr. Naill proposed the following amendment:           

After the word "aforesaid,'' at the end of the second line
of the fifth section, add the words "Orphans' courts of the
several counties and the city of Baltimore;"

Which was assented to.

Mr. Eakle proposed the following amendment:

At the end of the sixth section add: "and in every case
where any county shall not be represented by such scholars
as entitled to, said county shall be entitled to receive the pro
rata, which shall be applied to the free schools of said
county.

Mr. Chaplain proposed the following substitute:

After the word "then," third line of the sixth section,
strikeout all to the word "the," in the seventh line;
Which was assented to.

The said bill was then read a second time.

Mr. Worthington moved a suspension of the rules to put
the bill upon its third reading.                                       

Mr. Coudy moved a call of the House.                     

Pending the consideration of which,

On motion of Mr. Ford,

All further proceedings under the call were dispensed
with.

Mr. Burgess moved that the House do now adjourn;
Which was withdrawn.

The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following mes-
sage :                                                                      

By the Senate,
                          January 26, 1860.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

The Senate most respectfully return to you the bills re-
ceived by the Senate on yesterday through the courtesy of
your honorable body.
