and propose Messrs. Kimmel and Gardner to join the com-
mittee appointed by your honorable body, to inform his Ex-
cellency, the Governor, that the General Assembly has or-
ganized, and are ready to receive any communication he may
be pleased to make.                    By order,

W. Kilgour,

Secretary.

Which was read and assented to.                                   

The committee appointed to wait upon the Governor and
inform him of the organization of the House, reported,
through Mr. Miller, of Cecil, chairman, that his Excellency
would be pleased to send a communication to the House at
half-past one o'clock.

On motion of Mr. Long,

The House resolved itself into a committee of the whole,
Mr. Mackubin in the chair.

After some time spent in committee of the whole, the com-
mittee rose, the Speaker resumed the chair, and Mr. Mac-
kubin, chairman of the committee of the whole, reported
progress, and asked leave to sit again.

The message of the Governor was received at the hands of
his private secretary, and was read to the House.

Mr. Compton offered the following order:

Ordered, That five thousand copies of the Governor's mes-
sage just read, be printed by the printer hereafter to be elected
by this House, for the benefit of the members of this House.

Which was read.

It was determined in the affirmative.

Mr. Compton called for the previous question ;
Which was sustained.

The question then being, "shall the main question be now-
put?"

The question then recurring on the adoption of the order,
the yeas and nays were ordered, and appeared as follow :
