Mr. Harding having resigned his position as a member of
the committee on Claims, Mr. Linthicum was appointed to
fill the vacancy.
The Speaker appointed G. W. Crawford, of Prince George's
county, committee clerk, to fill the vacancy occasioned by the
decease of Robert Bowie.

The House adjourned until to-morrow morning at eleven
o'clock.

The House met pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by the Rev. Mr. Graff.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. Booze presented a petition of the Notaries Public of
Baltimore, in relation to their fees ;
Referred to the committee on Ways and Means.
Mr. Morgan presented a memorial of H. G. Garner and
T. H. Fowler, and other citizens of St. Mary's county, pray-
ing the passage of laws for the gradual abolition of free
negroism, and the better government of said population in
Maryland:
Referred to the committee on Colored Population.
The Speaker laid before the House an abstract of the ac-
counts of the Havre de Grace and Baltimore Turnpike Com-
pany, for the year ending December, 1859;
Also, an abstract of the accounts of the Baltimore and
