passed by the House of Delegates on the 10th January, and
made known to me on the 18th instant, I have the honor to
enclose the election returns for members of the House of Del-
egates, as certified to this Department.

I am, very respectfully, &c, &c,

Also, a memorial from Allen Shipley and others, praying
the passage of a law to annul the charter of the Washington
and Baltimore Turnpike Road;

Also, a memorial from Thomas E. Berry, and others, pray-
ing the same;

Also, the report of the Northern Central Railroad;
Which were referred to the committee on Corporations.
Mr. Ford presented the following:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal, that Mr. Hun-
ter's absence for several days passed, and still is, in conse-
quence of indisposition.

Which was adopted.                                                       

On motion of Mr. Freaner,                                   

Leave was granted the committee on Elections to set dur-
ing the hours of the session of this House.

Mr. Briscoe presented a petition from Simon J. Martinet,
surveyor and engineer of the city of Baltimore, submitting
his plan of a map of the State of Maryland, and praying re-
lief therein mentioned;                                                     

Referred to the committee on Education.                       

Mr. Brining presented a petition from Daniel White and
others, praying an alteration in constables' fees.                 

Referred to the Washington county delegation.             

Mr. Kessler proposed the following:                             

Ordered, That the committee on Ways and Means, be re-
quired to examine into the expediency of reporting a bill for
the re-assessment of the taxable property of the State;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Seth offered the following:

Ordered, That a special committee of three, be appointed
by the Speaker to investigate the charges brought by James
