The said bill was then sent to the Senate.
The Secretary of the Senate delivered the following reso-
lutions:
Whereas, Slaves held to labor in the South are constantly
escaping to Canada, where large numbers of them are now
collected, and where they are protected by the British Gov-
ernment; therefore,
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
representatives of Maryland in Congress be requested to take
such measures as may be deemed necessary, to call upon the
executive officers of the General Government to negotiate a
treaty with the government of Great Britain for the recovery
and restitution of slave property belonging to American cit-
izens, which may be found in her provinces.
Which were read and referred to the committee on Federal
Relations.
The bill entitled, an act to amend the act of the General
Assembly of Maryland, passed at the session of 1858, chap-
ter 263, for the protection of certain game in Howard
county, and the several counties therein named;
Was read the second time.

It was recommitted to the committee on the Judiciary.

The bill entitled, an act to amend the 18th section of arti-
cle first, of the public local laws, by raising the salary of the
clerk of the Commissioners of Allegany county ;
