MONDAY, January 21st, 1856.
The House met pursuant to adjournment; present at the call
of the roll the following members :
Messrs. Harris, Wilson, of Calvert, Dowell, Stone, Clark, Rob-
erts, Dail, Scott, Goldsborough, Smith, of Worcester, Carper,
Hauver, Wolfe, Jarrett, Whitby, Stack, Kennedy, Fiery, Hall,
Tower, Brown, Smith, of Carroll, Buffington, and Rowles.
There being no quorum present,
On motion of Mr. Hall,
The House took a recess of half an hour;
When at the call of the roll the following members were pres-
ent:
Messrs. Speaker, Harris, Dorsey, Waters, Wilson, of Calvert,
Dowell, Stone, Chilcoat, Rankin, Heath, Clark, Roberts, Toad-
vine, Lawson, Wilson, of Somerset, Daniel, Dail, Scott, Stubbs,
Miller, Brooke, Goldsborough, Parker, Timmons, Smith of Wor-
cester, Brengle, Carper, Hauver, Wolfe, Jarrett, Whitby, Stack,
Kennedy, Partridge, Askew, Harrington, Fiery, Reichard, Lough-
ridge, Corby, Hall, Tower, Brown, Smith, of Carroll, Buffington,
Stewart, Rowles.
Mr. Goldsborough presented a petition of John Palmer, Clerk
of Queen Anne's County Circuit Court, asking the payment of
certain fees due to him from the State;
Which was referred to the Queen Anne's county delegation.
Mr. Fiery presented the petition of Isaac Nesbitt, Clerk of
Washington County Circuit Court; Nathaniel Duke, Clerk of
Calvert County Circuit Court; John B. Boyle, Clerk of Carroll
County Circuit Court; Nicholas Green, Clerk of Anne Arundel
County Circuit Court, praying that certain taxes be refunded to
them;
Which was referred to the Committee on Claims
Mr. Clark presented a petition from Dr. G. W. Goldsborough
and sundry other citizens of Caroline county, praying the passage
of a law to authorize the executors of Mary E. A. Reed, late of
Caroline county dec'd., to pay over to the Trustees of the Meth-
odist Episcopal Church in the town of Greensborough, and the
vestry of the Protestant Episcopal Church in the town of Hills-
borough, certain bequests and devises mentioned in the last will
and testament of said Mary E. A. Reed, dec'd;
Which was referred to a special Committee consisting of Messrs.
Clark, Daniel and Whitby.
