10              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Jan. 4,

Ordered, That when this House adjourn it adjourns to meet on
Monday at 12 o'clock.                                             

On motion of Mr. Daniel,

The House took up the question of the election of a Postmas-
ter, which was laid upon the table yesterday.

Mr. Roberts offered the following order as a substitute for the
whole matter; which was read :                                             

Ordered, That the office of Post Master to this House is no
longer necessary, and that the same be dispensed with; and that
the duty heretofore performed by said officer be performed by the
Page, under the direction of the Chief Clerk to this House.

Mr. Partridge moved that the substitute be laid on the table,
Which was determined in the negative by the following vote:

The yeas and nays being required thereon, appeared as
follows:
