ter, Hugg, Askew, Harrington, Fiery, Reichard, Corby, Harding,
Hall, Tower, Frey, Brown, Smith, of Carroll, Buffington, Stew-
art, Rowles, Kildow, Stone, Merrick.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Benjamin G. Harris, Esquire, member elect from St. Mary's
county, appeared, qualified, and took his seat.                     

Mr. Brooke presented a memorial from the Patuxent Company
and Laurel Machine Company of Prince George's County, for
the passage of a law authorising the County Commissioners to
levy for the payment of County Tax overpaid in error.

Referred to the Prince George's county Delegation.

Mr. Tower presented a petition from Thomas J. McKaig and
61 other citizens of the town and vicinity of Cumberland, for a
repeal of the Stamp Act.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on Ways
and Means.                                         

On motion of Mr. Jarrett,                        

Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal that R. E. Duvall
of Harford county, is detained from his seat by indisposition.

On motion of Mr. Partridge,                               

Leave was granted to introduce a bill entitled an act to enable
William Crane and others, the Trustees of the "Saratoga Street,
African Baptist Church," in Baltimore City, to execute a deed
of certain properly therein mentioned.

Which was read and referred to the Committee on the Judi-
ciary.

On motion of Mr. Scott,

Leave was granted to introduce a bill to authorize the County
Commissioners of the several Counties of this State to build
bridges in their respective counties.

Referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Partridge, Chairman of the Committee on Judiciary reported
favorably a bill entitled, an act relating to non-resident Guardians
of wards living out of this State but having or being entitled to
property therein;

Which was read the first time.

Also a bill entitled, an act more effectually to prevent gambling;
Which was read the first time.

Mr. Stewart, Chairman on the Committee on Lotteries reported
