1856.] OF THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES.           817

ployment in the several departments, two of whom receive from
the Principal the salaries of nine hundred dollars jointly

That the Academy with regard to pupils has been, during the
last semi-academical year, in a very flourishing condition, num-
bering, as it will be seen by the next tabular statement, an aver-
age of over one hundred students;

That an average often students have received the full advan-
tages of the Academy without charge, by reason of the fund re-
ceived from the State, and agreeably to its provisions, and that
the aforesaid ten students were entered and placed on the State
Fund list, by the special request of their parents or guardians—
and that the value of tuition thus, gratuitously dispensed would
be, on the terms charged to other pupils as prescribed by the
Hoard of Trustees—at least two hundred dollars per annum.

It is proper to add that five other students were received, (on
account of the large and valuable assistance rendered by the State,)
whose parents are either actually insolvent or probably unable or
unwilling to pay—although said pupils were not entered by their
parents or guardians, with request that they receive the advanta-
ges of the State Educational Fund;

That said Academy is divided into three Departments, as fol-
lows:

1st. "High English and Classical;" comprising students in
Latin, Greek, French, Geometry, Algebra, Book Keeping, and
the Natural Sciences.
