786               JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Mar. 8.

Maryland Savings Institution, for enabling it to wind up its busi-
ness, being a further supplement to the act passed at December
session 1826, chapter 189, and additional to the supplement of
1844, chapter 208.

Mr. Davis presented a petition of P. S. Chappall, praying the
passage of a law to create the office of Inspector of Artificial Ma-
nures;

Which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture;
By said Committee referred to the next Legislature.

On motion of Mr. Bowie,
The House took up,

A bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Columbia and Port
Deposit Railroad Company;

The question being upon the amendment offered by Mr. Sil-
ver this morning.
Which was rejected.                                                                 

The said bill was then read the third time and rejected by the
following vote:
