Also the following bills, endorsed "rejected," viz:


A bill entitled, an act to appropriate a sum of money to Richard

B. Carmichael, Grafton L. Dulaney, and D. C. H. Emory, for
their services as arbitrators under the act of December session,
1846, chapter 347, entitled, a supplement to an act for, the relief
of Passmore McCullough.                                           

And the bill entitled, an act to allow E. A. Talbott, late Sheriff
of Howard county, further time to complete his collections.

The door-keeper returned and informed the Speaker that he had
notified the absent members to attend;

On motion of Mr. Timmons,

Further proceedings under the call we're dispensed with.

The House then proceeded to the further consideration of said
bill.

Pending the consideration thereof,                       

Mr. Harrington rose to a question of privilege, and demanded
the protection of the House against an assault threatened to be
made upon him by a certain Frederick W. Jones;

Whereupon the Speaker ordered the sergeant-at-arms to arrest
the said Frederick W. Jones;

And the sergeant-at-arms arrested the said Frederick W. Jones,
and brought him to the Bar of the House;

Mr. Askew asked that the provision of the Constitution touch-
ing the case, be complied with;

Pending debate thereon,
Mr. Carper offered the following order:             

Ordered, That Frederick W. Jones be released from the cus-
tody of the sergeant-at-arms, provided, he makes an apology to
the House and promises not to interfere further with the member
from Baltimore city, or any other member of the House.

Mr. Harris moved to strike out the words "or any other mem-
ber of the House;"                                                               

Which was determined in the negative.
Mr. Partridge asked that the Speaker reprimand the prisoner;

The question being called for upon the order offered by Mr.
Carper;                                                                                   

It was determined in the affirmative;
