Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs. Tim-
mons, Parker and Smith, of Wor.

A bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act to incorporate
Chesapeake city, in Cecil county, passed March 1st, 1850, chap-
ter 271;

Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs.. Stubbs,
Miller and Scott.                                                           

A bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act entitled, an act to
authorise the Baltimore United Fire Department, incorporated by
an act of the General Assembly of Maryland;               

Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs. Partridge,
Abbott and Smith, of Balt. city.

A bill entitled, a supplement to an act to incorporate a com-
pany for building a bridge over Choptank River, at or near Den-
ton Ferry, passed at December session, 1811, chapter 139, and
supplements thereto,

Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs. Whitby,
Stack and Clark.           

And returned the bill entitled,

An act to incorporate the American Bank, with the following
amendments:                                 

Amendments Proposed.

1.  In sec. 1, line 7, after the word "dollars," add "in gold
or silver coin."                                                                       

2.  Sec. 1, line 15, strike out all after the word "pleasure."

3.  At the end of sec. 4. add "provided such election of Presi-
dent and Directors shall take place within twenty days from said
first Monday of July."

4.  Add as sec. 17, "and be it enacted, that the Legislature
hereby reserves the right to alter, amend, modify or repeal this
act at pleasure."         

5.  Add as sec. 18, "and be it enacted, that this act shall take
effect from the date of its passage."

6.  Add as sec. 16, "and be it enacted, that the Bank hereby
authorised, shall be subject to all the restrictions and limitations
contained in an act passed at January session, 1853, chapter 441,
entitled, an act to continue the corporate existence of the several
banking institutions therein mentioned, and also an act passed at
January session, 1854, chapter 152."
