On motion of Mr. Silver,                      

The House adjourned until this evening at 8 o'clock.

WEDNESDAY EVENING,

                 March 5th, 1856.

The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following
members:

Messrs. Speaker, Harris, Griffith, Dorsey, Neff, Waters, Wil-
son, of Calvert, Dowell, Stone, Merrick, Chilcoat, Rankin,
Wright, Cullings, Heathy Clark, Roberts, Toadvine, Lawson,
Wilson, of Somerset, Daniel, Dail, Frazier, Thomas, Scott,
Stubbs, Miller, Brooke, Bowie, Goldsborough, Rolph, Parker,
Timmons, Smith, of Worcester, Davis, Hauver, Duvall, Whitby,
Silver, Stack, Partridge, Smith, of Bait, city, Abbott, Valiant,
Askew, Harrington, Fiery, Witmer, Loughridge, Corby, Hall,
Tower, Smith, of Carroll, Buffington, Rowles.

On motion of Mr. Askew,                                         

The reading of the Journal was dispensed with.
Mr. Merrick moved to reconsider the vote on bill 374;
Which was determined in the negative.                       

On motion of Mr. Harrington,

The rules were suspended to allow him to report a bill entitled
an act for the sale of all negroes and mulattoes, slaves and free,
who are convicted and confined in the Maryland Penitentiary;

Which was read the first time.            

The order of the evening being

A bill entitled, an act to refund to Amon Green, of Baltimore
city, certain taxes paid in error to B. F. Zimmerman;             

Was read the second time.                                               

(Three-fourths concurring,)                                          

Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as fol-
lows:
