tridge, Smith, of Baltimore city, Abbott, Valiant, Lester, Askew,
Fiery, Witmer, Loughridge, Corby. Harding, Hall, Tower,

On motion of Mr. Smith, of Carroll,

The House took up the bill entitled, an act in favor of the Western
Maryland Railroad Company ignoring and waiving on the part of
the State all cause of forfeitures by reason of the said company's
failure to comply with any of the provisions of the original act in-
corporating the same passed at January session 1852, chapter
304, and further amending said original act;

Was read the second time; three-fourths of the members con-

curring,

Was read the third time and passed by yeas and nays as fol-
lows:

The said bill was then sent to the senate.

Mr. Frazier presented a memorial of 98 citizens of Dorchester
county, praying the Legislature of Maryland to pass a law to pro-
hibit the building of any more nunneries, and the inspecting of
those already built;

Which was referred the Committee on Convents.

Mr. Dail presented a memorial of sundry citizens of Dorchester
county praying the Legislature for an act to authorize the draw-
keeper of the Slaughter Creek Bridge, to charge non-residents toll
for crossing said bridge;
