report thereon by bill or otherwise.

Which was referred to Messrs. Partridge, Merrick and Car-
per.

On motion of Mr. Kennedy,                                     

The rules were suspended, to enable him to present the memo-
rial of Geo. Brown and others, asking an amendment to the char-
ter of the Baltimore Copper Smelting Company:

Which was referred to the Committee on Corporations.
Mr. Askew read and offered the following order :         

Ordered, That 1,000 copies of the documents accompanying
the Governor's Message be printed for the use of this House ;

Which was read.

Mr. Bowie moved to amend by inserting the word, "procured,"
in place of" printed,"

Which was rejected.

Mr. Partridge moved to amend by adding "forthwith ;"
Which was adopted.                           

The question being on the order as amended;
It was determined in the affirmative.
On motion of Mr. Kennedy;

Ordered, That leave be granted to the Committee on Ways and
Means, to bring in a bill to authorise the Treasurer to issue dupli-
cate copies of two coupons due 1st December. 1854, Maryland
590 certificates No. 771 and 957, each for £250 payable at the
office of Baring, Brothers, London, which have been lost.

Mr. Tower, from the select Committee, reported a bill entitled,
an act to make valid a deed from Benjamin Fitzhugh and others,
to the Mineral Bank of Maryland and Norman Bruce;

Which was referred to the Committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Askew, from the select committee reported a bill entitled,
an act relating to the removal of causes from the criminal court
of Baltimore city;

Which was read the first time.

The bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act passed January
session, eighteen hundred and fifty-four, chapter 194, entitled an
act for the better protection of slaveholders in the several counties
therein mentioned,

Which was read the second time.
