In 13th line, strike out "in the immediate vicinity" and insert
"as the case may be, within one mile or five hundred feet."

Mr. Lester offered the following amendment:

In the 8th line of the 1st section, strike out the words "courts
of law" and insert in place thereof the words "Superior Court or
Court of Common Pleas;"

Amendment assented to.
Mr. Griffith offered the following amendment:                   

In section 1st, 20th line, strike out all after the word "act"
down to the word "to" in the twenty first line;

Amendment assented to.                                 

Mr. Goldsborough offered the following amendment:

Strike out in 9th line at the word "at" to the word "place" in
the 12th line, and insert "a majority of the heads of families in
the districts of the counties or wards of the cities in which appli-
cants may reside.

On motion of Mr. Silver,                                                

The rules were suspended to allow him to report from the
committee on Corporations, a bill entitled, an act to incorporate
the Woodmount Coal and Iron Company;               

Which was read the first time.

Also, reported a bill entitled, an act making an appropriation
to the public school fund;           

Which was read the first time.
On motion of Mr. Hall,

The rules were suspended to allow him to offer the following
order:

Ordered, That one hundred copies of the report of the joint
committee, upon the sinking fund and other matters appertain-
ing to the Treasury department, be printed for the use of this
House;                                                                                       

Which was rejected.                                               

On motion of Mr. Loughridge,                                     

The House adjourned until this evening at 8 o'clock.
