erick county praying that the law creating a State Agricultural
Chemist be not repealed;                                            

Which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture.
Mr. Rankin presented a petition from sundry citizens of Bal-
timore county on public roads;                        

Which was referred to the Committee on Roads.
Mr. Partridge presented a petition of John J. Wright and oth-
ers praying for certain relief in relation to a mortgage held by the
State upon the Green Spring Hotel;                                     

Which was referred to the Committee on Judiciary.
Mr. Harrington presented a petition of Wm. F. Frick, asking
compensation for legal services rendered the State;
Which was referred to the Committee on Claims.
Mr Miller presented a petition of George Mullen and fifty-one
other citizens of Cecil county praying the Legislature not to grant
a new election district in said county;                             

Which was referred to the Cecil county delegation.
Mr. Waters presented a petition of thirty-six citizens of Anne
Arundel county praying for a law to protect females in private
prisons;                                                 

Which was referred to the Committee on that subject.
Mr. Griffith presented a petition against abolishing the office of
State Chemist;

Which was referred to the Committee on Agriculture.
Mr. Cullings presented a memorial of sixty-two citizens of the
sixth district of Baltimore county praying the passage of a law
for the protection of young women in convents;

Which was referred to the Committee on that subject.

On motion of Mr. Rankin,

The rules were suspended to take up a bill entitled, an act to
incorporate the Carrolls Island Company of Baltimore county;

Which was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nag;
as follows:
