                                                    By the Senate.                   

                                                           February 29th, 1856.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:                                         

We have received a message from your Honorable Body pro-
posing to appoint a joint Committee to hear, consider and report
upon a proposition which has been presented to the House, for
the sale and purchase of the interest held by the State of Mary-
land in the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Company, and concur
therein. We have appointed Messrs. Berry, Schley, and Dennis,
to meet the gentlemen named on behalf of the House of Dele-
gates,                                                                                             

By order,

C. Harwood, Secretary.

Mr. Kennedy moved that the bill entitled, an act to reduce
taxes heretofore imposed by authority of this State be taken up.

Mr. Bowie moved the said bill be postponed to Tuesday next;

Which was determined in the negative;

So the said bill was taken up.

Mr. Bowie moved the House adjourn;

Which was determined in the negative.

Mr. Rankin moved that the said bill be postponed to Mondays

Which was determined in the negative,
