510               JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 28,

On motion of Mr. Hall,
The vote just taken was reconsidered;

And the further consideration thereof postponed until 9 o'clock.
The House took up for consideration the bill entitled, an act to
provide for the election of a chaplain to the Maryland Penitenti-

ary;

On motion of Mr. Daniel,

The said bill was made the order of the day for Saturday next;

The House took up for consideration the bill entitled, an act to
incorporate the American Bank;                 

The said bill was read the second time, and ordered to be en-
grossed for a third reading.

The House took up for consideration the bill entitled, an act to
provide for the removal of cases from the criminal court of Balti-
more city to the circuit courts of Anne Arundel and Howard
counties,             

On motion of Mr. Rowles,
The said bill was passed over informally.

The House took up for consideration the bill entitled, a sup-
plement to an act to provide for the election of Road Supervisors
in the several counties of this State, passed January session 1853,
chapter 300;

Mr. Stubbs offered the following as an additional section:

Section 7. Be it enacted, That the county commissioners of
the counties aforesaid, shall determine the compensation, per
diem, which the several road supervisors shall receive; the price
to be paid, per diem, for hands and teams, and for any and all
materials furnished and used for the repair of the several roads in

said counties;                                                

                   

Which was adopted.                                       

Mr. Duvall offered the following amendment:
After the words "Cecil county," wherever they occur, insert
"Harford county;"             

Which was adopted.                                                      


Mr. Daniel offered the following amendment:

In section 1st, line 3rd, strike out the words "this county,"
and insert, "Cecil, Kent, Harford and Somerset counties;"

Which was adopted.

Mr. Stubbs offered the following amendments:
