The said bill was then sent to the Senate.

The House proceeding with the ordinary business of the night,

A bill entitled an act to establish and endow an Agricultural
College in the State of Maryland.                     

Was read the second time.


On motion of Mr. Bowie,           

The said bill was made the order for to-morrow night.
On motion of Mr. Abbott,

The rules were suspended to allow him to submit the follow-
ing order:

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal of this House, that
the Hon. J. B. Askew is detained from his seat by serious indis-
position.

.                                                                                       

Which was adopted.                         

The House proceeded with the ordinary business of the night.

A bill entitled, an act amendatory of an act entitled, an act to
prevent frauds in mortgages and bills of sale passed at Decem-
ber session, 1846, chapter two hundred and seventy-one.

Was read the second time.                                           

A bill entitled an act to repeal an act passed at January ses-
sion, 1854, chapter one hundred and ninety-four, entitled an act
for the better protection of slaveholders in the several counties
therein named.

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the Orphans' Courts of this
State, to order the sale or location, transfer or assignment of land
warrants issued to minor heirs of deceased soldiers;                 

A bill entitled, an act to repeal so much of the act passed at
December session 1845 chapter 5, as allows the continuance of
causes by consent, so far as relates to Baltimore city;

Was read the second time.

A bill entitled, an act to authorize the county commissioners of
Frederick county to levy a sum of money to erect a bridge over.
Bennett's creek in said county;

Was read the second time.
On motion of Mr. Stubbs,
The enacting clause was stricken out.

A bill entitled, an act to regulate the compensation of the State's
Attorney in Dorchester county.
