472           JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS.             [Feb. 27,

to incorporate the Trustees of the Parsonage of the Methodist
Protestant Church, situate at Union Town, in Carroll county.

On motion of Mr. Daniel,

The bill entitled, an act to provide for the erection of a new
Domitory to the Maryland Penitentiary, and making suitable
provision for a Chapel, and for insane persons confined in said
Penitentiary;

Was made the order of the day for to-night.
On motion of Mr. Duvall,            

                               

The rules were suspended to allow him to present the report
of the military officers of the State in convention, held on the 8th
of February, in Baltimore city;

Which was referred to the Committee on Militia.

Mr. Silver reported a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the
Potomac Bank;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Daniel presented a petition from sundry citizens of Som-
erset county, praying the Legislature to pass an act directing the
commissioners of Somerset county to lay out and condemn a cer-
tain road in Potato Neck, in said county ;                           

Which was referred to the Somerset county delegation;

Also a petition from sundry citizens of Somerset county, pray-
ing the passage of a law directing the commissioners of said
county to lay out a certain road to be repaired, mentioned in
said petition, and to build a bridge at the foot thereof;

Which was referred to Somerset county delegation ;

And a petition of sundry citizens of Somerset county, for the
suppression of nunneries in this State ;

Referred to the Committee on that subject.

                                                                                                                                                                                                                   

Mr. Partridge presented a petition of Richard Davis, E. W.
Fairbanks, and others, in the 18th Ward, praying for a division
of the said road;                                            

Which was referred to Baltimore city delegation ;

Also a petition of Maj. Gen. Geo. H. Stewart and others
voters in the 18th Ward of the city of Baltimore, praying for the
division of the said ward;                                   

Which was referred to the Baltimore city delegation;

And also reported favorably from the Committee on Judiciary
resolutions of James Wingate;                               :             '
