sioners of Allegany County to bear and determine the appeal of
John Everett of said county in regard to the valuation and as-
sessment of his property in said county;                 

Was read the first time.

Mr. Heath from the Committee on Education to which was re-
ferred the bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Montgomery Col-
lege; and                     

On motion of Mr. Heathy,
The said bill was referred to the Committee on Corporations.

And reported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to promote
Medical Science by legalizing dissections.

Mr. Rankin reported a bill entitled, an act for the benefit of
Catharine Wister, widow of Robert Pentle a soldier of the
Maryland line during the revolution;

Was read the first time.

And a bill entitled, an act for the benefit of Grace Bewly,
widow of George Bewly a private in the revolutionary war.

Was read the first time.

Mr. Frazier from the Committee on Claims reported favorably
on a bill entitled, an act to provide for the compensation of Dan-
iel C. Diggs and Thomas G. Pratt, for legal services rendered to
the State in the case of the State of Maryland at the instance and
upon the relation of T. Watkins Ligon, Governor, vs. Thomas
H. Osbourne of Charles, late sheriff of Prince George's county.

Also on a bill entitled, a supplement to an act entitled, an act
authorising the Comptroller of the Treasury to pay to Oelrichs
and Lurman the amount of coupons lost in the United States Mail
Steamer Arctic.                                                          

And reported unfavorably on a memorial, of Messrs Coale &
Fenbey of Baltimore asking the return of certain moneys therein
named;                                           

Which was adopted.                                      

Mr. Silver reported a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the
Monumental Fire Insurance Company of the city of Baltimore;

Which was read the first time.

                                                                          

And a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the Powhattan Com-
pany of Maryland;
