Mr. Goldsborough presented a memorial of a number of citi-
zens of Queen Anne's county in reference to the balance due the
Eastern Shore for internal improvements;             

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Also presented a petition from citizens of Queen Anne's coun-
ty, for erecting certain bridges in said county;

Which was referred to the Committee on Roads.

Mr. Abbott presented a petition of James Harris and others,
of Baltimore county, praying the Legislature to pass an act for
the protection of young women in the convents of this State;

Which was referred to the special committee on that subject.

Mr. Tower presented a petition of twenty citizens of Allegany
county for a modification of the laws relating to hawkers and
pedlars;

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Wilson of Somerset, presented a petition of sundry cit-

izens of Somerset county praying an appropriation for works of
internal improvements on the Eastern shore;                         

Which was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Also presented a petition of sundry citizens of Somerset coun-
ty, praying the passage of a law to suppress convents in this
State;

Mr. Miller presented a petition of James Balton and forty-eight
citizens of Cecil, in reference to the balance due the Eastern

Shore lor internal improvements;
