Mr. Harrington presented a memorial from citizens of Balti-
more, asking the passage of an act for a uniform system of re-
gistration of births, marriages and deaths;

Mr. Corby presented a petition from George W. Pole and 21
citizens of Washington county, asking protection against haw-
kers and pedlars in said county;

Which was referred to the committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Carper presented a petition from Frederick Schley and 81
others of Frederick county, praying for legislation in reference
to nunneries;

Which was referred to the special committee on that Sub-

Mr. Stubbs presented a petition of Robert Jackson and others
of Cecil county, in favor of a stringent license law for regulating
the retailing of intoxicating liquors.

Mr. Brengle presented the petition of Wm. Weber, John D.
Toy and Schley and Mailer, asking payment of their accounts
for printing the reports of the commissioners to revise, simplify
and abridge the rules of practice, pleadings, &c.
