348              JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 15,

votes for Directors in the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore; that J.
B. Thomas had fifty four votes, John H. Harris fifty votes, and
John B. Harris three votes for directors in the Bank of Easton;
that Matthew S. Barber and Frederick D. Herbert each received
fifty five votes for directors in the Hagerstown Bank, and there
were eight, blanks.

Whereupon, the Speaker pro tem declared that Messrs. True-
man Belt and J. Bond Chaplain were duly elected as directors on
the part of the State, for the Mechanics Bank of Baltimore. J.
B. Thomas and John H. Harris were duly elected directors on
the part of the State for the Easton Bank of Maryland, and that
Mathew S. Barber and Frederick D. Herbert were duly elected
directors on the part of the State for the Hagerstown Bank.

Mr. Valiant moved that the House adjourn until Monday next
at 12 o'clock; and                                             

On motion of Mr. Goldsborough,

The yeas and nays were called for, and it was rejected as fol-
lows:
