306               JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Feb. 13,

Which was referred to the Committee on Internal Improve-
ments.                   

On motion of Mr. Timmons,                                               

The rules were suspended, to take up for its final passage a
bill entitled, an act supplemental to the several acts relating to
the powers and duties of the board of primary education of Wor-
cester county;                                                                     

Amendment proposed by the Senate;

That all the amendments heretofore reported and adopted, be
struck out, and that the 4th section of the bill be so altered as to
read as follows:

"Section 4. And be it enacted, That said board shall have
power to alter and change the bounds of the several school dis-
tricts, and to form the districts anew, by increasing or diminish-
ing the number thereof, and to divide any one or more of the
several districts into new districts, whenever it shall appear to
them proper to do so; and when such changes are made, to dis-
tribute, in conformity therewith, the annual appropriations afore-
said amongst the several districts, according to the basis pre-
scribed for the distribution thereof by this act ;"

Amendment assented to; and                          

The said bill was then read the third time, and passed by yeas
and nays as follows;
