inquire into the expediency of selling out the $500,000 of un-
preferred stock of the State of Maryland in the Baltimore and
Ohio Railroad Company, and report to this House by bill or oth-
erwise.

Which were ordered to lie over one day.

Mr. Kennedy, from the Committee on Ways and Means, re-
ported favorably on a bill entitled, an act to authorize the Appeal
Tax Court of Baltimore city to hear the appeal of Murray & Ha-
zelhurst.                                                       

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Silver, from the Committee on Corporations, reported fa-
vorably on a bill entitled an act to incorporate the Chiniqui Real
Estate Company.                                 

Which was read the first time.                 

Also, on a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the South Ame-
rican Trading Company.

Which was read the first time.

Also, on a bill entitled, an act authorizing the stockholders of
the Swanton Coal and Iron Company to reduce the par value of the
shares in the capital stock of said Company, and to provide for
the issue and disposal of an additional number of shares of said

capital stock.       

Which was read the first time.         

                                                                           

Also, on a bill entitled, an act to amend the charter of the
Pickell Mining Company.                      

Which was read the first time.

Also, on a bill entitled, an act to incorporate the trustees of
the Methodist Episcopal church at Forktown, Somerset coun-
ty.                                                                                           

Which was read the first time.

Mr. Brengle reported a bill entitled, an act for the relief of
Mahlon Roderick, Sheriff of Frederick county.

Which was read the first time and referred to the committee on
Claims.                         

Mr. Partridge, from the Committee on Judiciary, to whom was
referred the petition of Mary Adeline Stevens, of Talbot county,
praying to be divorced from her husband, Hooper B. Stevens,
made an unfavorable report thereon, and asked to be discharged
from its further consideration;
