A bill entitled, an act to rehear and and re examine the ques-
tion of damages on the road to Mrs. Ann Brown's landing;

Was read.
Mr. Sudler submitted the following amendment.
Add at the end:

"Section 2: And be it enacted that this act shall take effect from
the date of its passage."                   

Which was assented to.

The said bill was then ordered to be engrossed for a third read-
ing.                                                     

The Speaker laid before the House a report from the Comp-
troller of the State.

On motion of Mr. Kennedy,

                                                                                                                         

The further reading of the report was dispensed with, and
On motion of Mr. Hall,
One hundred extra copies were ordered to be printed.

Also laid before the House a report from the Treasurer of
Maryland.

Which was referred to the Committee on Education; and

On motion of Mr. Hall;

Two hundred and fifty extra copies were ordered to be printed.

A bill entitled, an act to authorise the Orphans' Court of Kent
county, and Justices of the Peace, binding out negro children, to
regulate freedom dues to the Apprentices, and secure a compen-
sation to the parent or other persons, for raising such children;

Was read the second time.

Mr. Parker submitted the following amendment:              

In section 1st, line two insert "and Worcester," so as to
read ''Orphans' Court of Kent and Worcester counties;"

Which was assented to.

The said bill was then ordered to be engrossed for a third read-

ing.
