WEDNESDAY, January 9, 1856.

The House met. Present at the call of the roll the following
members:

Messrs. Speaker, Plowden, Griffith, Sudler, Dorsey, Neff, Wa-
ters, Wilson, of Calvert, Dowell, Stone, Merrick, Chilcoat, Rankin,
Wright, Cullings, Heath, Clark, Roberts, Toadvine, Lawson,
Wilson, of Somerset, Daniel, Dail, Thomas, Scott, Miller, Brooke,
Bowie, Goldsborough, Rolph, Parker, Timmons, Smith, of Wor-
cester, Brengle, Davis, Carper, Grove, Wolfe, Duvall, Jarrett,
Silver, Whitby, Stack, Kennedy, Partridge, Smith, of Baltimore
city, Abbott, Valiant, Lester, Hugg, Askew, Harrington, Fiery,
Witmer, Reichard, Loughridge, Corby, Hall, Wickes, Kildow,
Smith, of Carroll, Buffington, Stewart, Rowles.             

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Partridge presented the petition of numerous citizens of
Baltimore city and Anne Arundel county, for permission to con-
struct a Draw Bridge across the Patapsco river, from the Ferry
Bar to Anne Arundel county ;                                                     

Which was referred to the Baltimore city and Anne Arundel
county delegations.

Mr. Dail presented the memorial of the heirs or legal repre-
sentatives of Captain Thomas Woolford, late of Dorchester
county, praying remuneration for land and money due the said
Captain Thomas Woolford, for services rendered in the War of
the Revolution.                                        

Which was referred to the Committee on Pensions.

The Speaker laid before the House the following letter:

Treasury Office,

Annapolis, January 8th, 1856.
To the House of Delegates of Maryland:                                   

In compliance with the provisions of the Constitution, I have
the honor herewith to present copies of all the quarterly accounts
I have from time to time rendered and settled with the Comp-
troller.

Read and referred to the Committee on Ways and Means.

Mr. Lester presented the petition of A. F. Dulin, of the city
of Baltimore, asking permission to bring certain slaves from
Virginia into this State.

Referred to the Committee on Colored Population.
