Also on a bill entitled, an act for the relief of Ann Brown and

Wm. J. Stone.           

Was read the first time.

Mr. Daniel from the Select Committee reported favorably on a
bill entitled, an act to authorize the commissioners of Somerset
county to cause to be built a new jail in said County;

Was read the first time.                

And also a bill entitled, an act supplementary to the act of 1854,
chapter 4, passed for the regulations of the catching of oysters in
the waters of Somerset county, and entitled, an act to fix the time
when the clerk of the circuit court for Somerset county shall pay
over to the treasurer of the school fund of said county certain mo-
neys as provided for in said act and making his official bond liable
for the payment thereof;                                   

Was read the first time.                        

Mr. Plowden from the Select Committee reported favorably on
a bill entitled, an act to authorize the erection of a bridge across
north branch of Trent creek, in St. Mary's county.

On motion of Mr. Daniel,                                     

The rules were suspended to dispense with the bills for the
second reading, and take up the bills for the third reading.

On motion of Mr. Tower,

It was reconsidered to take up the bill entitled, an act to de-
nominate the town of Cumberland a city, and to change and pro-
vide an alternative for the name of the corporate body thereof;

Was read the third time, and passed by yeas and nays as fol-
lows:
